The starting gene is synthesized by the fusion of the genes from Dipeptide-88 and eight repeats of sh-Polypeptide-69 where the prolines have been hydroxylated to hydroxyproline. The fusion peptide contains 314 amino acids which may contain disulfide bonds and/or glycosylation, and consists of the proper sequence from the 20 standard amino acids.
